Don't stop taking cold medicine as soon as you feel better.

The weather has been erratic lately. Yesterday, reporters learned from major hospitals in the city that the number of patients seeking treatment for colds has been steadily rising. However, experts point out that many people don't take colds seriously. They stop taking medication as soon as their symptoms improve, leading to recurring colds that severely harm the body's immune system and can even cause pneumonia and bronchitis.

Experts explain that many people don't complete their course of medication for colds. They take cold medicine when symptoms are severe, but stop as soon as they feel better. This, however, allows drug-resistant strains to develop, making the cold recurrent and difficult to cure. Experts emphasize that only proper medication can resolve recurring colds. Taking Western medicine as an example, compound aminophen-containing drugs are the most commonly used and effective cold medications. They treat not only common colds but also influenza, with amantadine hydrochloride being the most effective component. It's important to note that different medications have different treatment courses, determined by pharmaceutical companies based on clinical experience and reflecting the typical duration for complete recovery. Ignoring the prescribed course of treatment and stopping medication prematurely upon symptom improvement may prevent a complete cure.

Experts also recommend that during the autumn cold season, treatment should be consistently followed; one shouldn't stop treatment prematurely. Households can keep readily available medications such as Kuaik Ge cold capsules, Vitamin C Yinqiao tablets, Sanjiu cold granules, and Yinqiao detoxification tablets, but these should always be taken according to the dosage and duration specified on the packaging.
