Be careful not to take medicine indiscriminately, as it can easily lead to "drug resistance"

Yesterday was the seventh "Men's Health Day" established by the National Family Planning Commission. The latest male health survey data released by the Shanghai Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Andrology Society shows that 53% of male disease patients choose to look up relevant information themselves and then buy medicine from pharmacies for self-treatment. Among the 2,000 men surveyed, 18% chose to seek treatment at public hospitals, 26% planned to go to small hospitals or clinics due to concerns about losing face, and 3% admitted they did not seek treatment because they found it difficult to discuss the issue.
Professor Bai Yingtang, director of the male department at Shanghai 411 Hospital, pointed out that according to relevant clinical data, men's frequency of seeking medical attention is 30% lower than that of women. 20% of men never participate in any form of physical exercise, and 90% of men stated that they lack awareness and habits of health checkups. 80% of seriously ill male patients admitted that their failure to seek medical attention early led to minor illnesses developing into serious ones, causing them to miss the best time for early treatment.
According to the introduction, this year's theme for Men's Health Day is "Building Harmonious Families, Building a Harmonious Society," focusing on ED (erectile dysfunction) and male psychological problems that affect the quality of family life. Professor Wang Yixin from the male department of Shanghai Renji Hospital pointed out that many patients believe that these diseases can be treated with medication and attention to hygiene. They usually only seek hospital treatment after taking numerous ineffective medications. However, by then, the patients have developed drug resistance, which hinders treatment.
